Service / Air Mail Issue "FEMA - Australian Animals"

FM199801 FEMA Air Mail

In 1998, the Australija settlement policy of the Musogradij Respublike was finally put into practice. A robust expeditionary force, "Forzaj Expedizionar Musogradij in Australija" (FEMA), set up a number of settlements on the eastern coast of the continent. Two high value Air Mail stamps were issued for use of the FEMA forces and the settlers, displaying Australian animals, a wombat (M$ 3.00) and an Australian bird, a magpie-lark (Grallina cyanoleuca), both pictures taken during the 1993 Australija expedition (M$ 5.00).

Local Issue "Australijan Landscapes"

FM199802 Australija Local Mail

Although there were only very limited mail services between the settlements in Australija, two stamps were issued to cover local mail fees within and between those settlements. The M$ 1.00 stamp, for mail within each settlement and its outstations, displays a coastal view from Royal National Park, where the first settlement was set up. The M$ 2.00 stamp displays a view in the Blue Mountains, near Katoomba, the last settlement to be evacuated when the settlement program was given up in 2003. Both stamps display the 8-tipped Star of Parramatta, the symbol of the Musogradij Respublike. Formally valid until 2000.02.14, it is not quite clear when their practical usage stopped, as no replacement stamps for the settlements were issued by the Dershowo after the capitulation of the Respublike government.
