2019 Stamp Issues

Commemorative Issue "Climate Resistance"

FM2019-01 Commemorative issue Climate Resistance

After the Musogradian Kuomnata elections of 2018.10.03, the new coalition government led by the ecologic party CDN-E introduced policies to orient the Dershowo and the Federation towards climate friendly measures in the country and towards an active support of Climate Resistance movements in other countries. This was expressed by the Climate Resistance stamp which shows a lush green landscape surrounding a factory expelling thick smoke clouds. A temperature diagram in the top left corner shows the rapid rise of average temperatures over the last few decades. The stamp was the first one using Artificial Intelligence techniques for the design, techniques which, ironically, consume lots of power in datacenters.

Commemorative Issue "Brexit"

FM2019-02 Commemorative issue - Brexit

The F.M. have got manifold connections with the United Kingdom, both personal and commercial. Therefore, the decision of the UK to leave the European Union was a shock to the F.M.. A stamp was issued for the originally planned date, 2019.03.29, showing the map of the EU and the UK. The flag of the F.M. is combined with the EU flag - the F.M. are of course no direct formal member of the EU, but linked to it through connections with other countries. The stamp was issued as a joint issue with the Island of Pabay, although due to the cancelling of the date, the Pabay version may not have been issued (checking). A reissue with slightly altered design is planned for 2020.01.31.

  • Date of Issue: 2019.03.29
  • Free perforation, matt paper
  • Values: CW 2.00

Commemorative Issue "Prince Leonard Casley of Hutt River"

FM2019-02 Commemorative issue - Prince Leonard

Another country with which the F.M. has a long and deep connection is the Principality of Hutt River in Western Australia. In 2008, a delegation visited the country and met Prince Leonard and Princess Shirley. The demise of Prince Leonard, who had been Head of State of the Principality for a very long time, was very sad news for the people of the F.M.. The stamp dedicated to his memory shows Prince Leonard raising the flag of the Principality, based on a photo taken during the 2008 visit. His simple lifestyle, combined with his intellectual clarity and vision, deeply impressed the visiting delegation.

Commemorative Issue "Independence Day"

FM2019-03 Commemorative issue - Independence Day

To celebrate the 29th anniversary of the Musogradian Declaration of Independence, Posta tal Musograd issued a stamp showing the silhouette of a Wedgetail Eagle. The similarity of the design with the flag of the Dershowo is of course not by chance. The stamp is the first one printed on a new laser printer, made by OKI. The top and bottom sheet margins were decorated with the flag of the Dershowo.

  • Date of Issue: 2019.10.03
  • Free perforation, matt paper
  • Stamp sold only in the Dershowo of Musograd and in Balangrad City
  • Values: CW 2.00
  • Order No. FM201904 - single stamp (CW 2.00)

Commemorative Issue "Climate Emergency"

FM2019-04 Commemorative issue - Climate Emergency

In 2019, the F.M. dedicated many ressources towards the fight against the escalating climate crisis. Many regions within the F.M. were hit by droughts and heatwaves. But the heaviest shocks were felt when the huge forest regions in Australia started to burn, regions in which settlement and research activities of many F.M. citizens, especially from Capricornia and Musograd, took place in the 1990's and the first decade of the 21st century.

The stamp shows a bushfire in central Australia, photographed in Kakadu N.P., NT in 2008. Compared with the bushfires (more precisely forest fires) in 2019/2020, that fire was absolutely harmless, of course.

The issue was originally planned to be part of a new Definitives series, but the plan later was changed out of practicality reasons. It is still planned, though, to issue further commemorative stamps with the same concept and design in the coming years.

  • Date of Issue: 2019.11.22
  • Fixed perforation, matt paper
  • Values: CW 0.50
  • Order No. FM201905 - single stamp (CW 0.50)

Definitives Reissue "Australian Landscapes"

FM2019-05 Definitives Reissue Australian Landscapes

The high demand for standard values of the 2008/2009 Definitive series had depleted the stocks. At the same time, the design of further values of the new Climate Emergency series was delayed by ressource reasons. Therefore, it was decided to print a new run of the standard values 1, 2 and 4 CW. As glossy paper was no longer available, they were printed on matt paper and clearly marked as a new run by the year 2019 in the information line.

  • Date of Issue: 2019.11.26
  • Free perforation, matt paper
  • Values: CW 1.00, 2.00, 4.00
  • Order No. FM201906 - 3 stamps (CW 7.00)

Commemorative Issue "Galina Ustvolskaya"

FM2019-06

The Russian composer Galina Ustvolskaya was born 100 years ago, on 1919.06.17. A pupil of Shostakovich and one of the most distinctive composers of Soviet Russia, she has been honoured by Musogradian culture circles for quite a long time. Both her more abstract symphonies and piano sonatas, her distinctive Piano Concerto and her more accessible works like the Childrens' Suite are being played quite often, also on the Musogradian radio station Twentysound .

The stamp honouring her was designed on the base of an old photography, processed with Artificial Intelligence tools. The sheet margins refer to the Twentysound station

Commemorative Issue "Gottfried Keller"

FM2019-07 Commemorative Issue Gottfried Keller

The last stamp issue of 2019 is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Gottfried Keller, a Swiss poet and author who, only months ago, was almost unknown in the F.M.. He lived from 1819.07.19 to 1890.07.15. For 5 years, from 1850 to 1855, he lived in Berlin (Balangrad City).

A sequence of events and decisions in the F.M. and especially in the Dershowo led to a professional connection of the Postmaster General with a Balangrad City school named after Gottfried Keller. Posta tal Musograd decided to documenting this by honouring the author's 200th birthday with a stamp issue.

The stamp design is based on a book frontispiece with a portrait of Gottfried Keller, designed by the painter Arnold Böcklin. In small letters under the portrait, a quote from the author is shown, "Etwas wagen muss das Herz, und früh auf sein, wenn es leben will" - "The heart must dare something, and rise early, if it wants to live". The daring part having been done, the "rise early" part has been found out to be definitely true, with all its consequences regarding tiredness.

Addendum: The stamp has been declared invalid after the 2021.06.03 catastrophe formally ended the Shoolscath project. Stamps returned to PtM will be exchanged against valid stamps of the same value.
