1989 Stamp Issues

In an uncanny foreshadowing of European history, summer and autumn 1989 saw the breakdown of communist rule and a complete reorganisation of the state only months before similar events happened in countries like Eastern Germany, Czechoslovakia and others. The upheaval and change can be recognized also by looking at the last stamp issue of that year, displaying cyrillic script, a new design and and new currency units on a new type of paper.
