2002 Stamp Issues

Not all of the stamp variants issued in 2002 are still available for purchase. As the order number is often used for catalogisation purposes, all variants are listed with their respective order number, but only items where a CW price is displayed can still be ordered while supply lasts. Unissued stamps are marked with an "X" in the order number, stamps not for sale are marked with (RARE).

Printing runs are not known, but even for rare variants, at least one full sheet for each issue has been printed.

The stamps were distributed to participants in form of only partially perforated se-tenant sheets containing a combination of values. They were valid only during the expedition. Commemorative Issue "Independence Day 2002 - 1 M$"

FM200207 Independence Day 2002

The Independence Day 2002 issue displays the most dynamic stamp design of that era. A soaring eagle represents the dynamic development of the Musogradian state in these years. The date of independence, 1990.10.03, is displayed in old format, 3.X.1990. The motive was also used for two other issues, FM200305, commemorating William Golding, and FM200402, the "Dershowo Farewell" issue.

The stamp was issued in a IBM Infoprint Colour Laser Printer type and an Epson inkjet colour variant. The laser printed stamps exists as unperforated variant and as a variant with manual rough wheel perforation, performed by the Post Office in Mohuc. The inkjet variant is only known with rough wheel perforation.

FM200207 Independence Day 2002 - Inkjet rough wheel perforation

Although Musogradian cancellations of that era were done with undated hand stamps, the Musogradian Museum of Postal History collection contains a rare exemplary of an Independence Day 2002 stamp cancelled by the German Mail Service, with a date of "21.10.02" at "Briefzentrum 55", documenting the postal usage of these stamps also in international communication.

  • Date of Issue: 2002.10.03
  • Valid until 2008.08.01
  • Printed with IBM Infoprint Color laser printer, variant with Epson inkjet colour printer.
  • Printed on white gummed paper
  • Stamp size 40 x 40mm
  • Issued in sheets of 16 stamps.

  • Order No.: FM200207fp - Single stamp with fine wheel perforation (CW 5.00)
  • Order No.: FM200207rp - Single stamp with rough wheel perforation (CW 5.00)
  • Order No.: FM200207ijrp - Single inkjet stamp with rough wheel perforation (CW 5.00)

A variant exists which is printed with a different laser printer, on heavier paper, existing only as cancelled stamp with the Unicorn cancellation of PtM. It is assumed that it was created at a later time for philatelic sales. As there is no documented postal usage, it is categorized as "unissued".

  • Order No.: FM200207XpC - Unissued single unperforated stamp, cancelled, printed on unknown laser printer (CW 5.00)

Year Sets of the 2002 issues will be defined at a later point. The above listing might contain errors which will be corrected over time.
