Commemorative Issue "Inauguration of U.S. President Barack Obama"

FM200902 Inauguration of President Obama

  • On 2009.01.20, Barack Obama was inaugurated as the first African-American President of the United States of America. At the time, this was seen as a sign of great hope. The photo was taken on 2008.07.24 during the visit of Obama, as Candidate, in Balangrad City, while he was speaking at the Victory Column. On the original photo, Obama can be seen a bit above the word "to". 7 years later, this hope has been lost, due to the eroding force of reactionary propaganda, but also due to the lack courage by President Obama to decisively change course.

The stamp was originally designed to be used by the Administrative Office of the TSM, but then also sold to the general public in all states of the Federation. As this obvious discrimination against peaceful Muslims was seen by the F.M. government as incitement to hate, leading to terrorism on both sides, the F.M. decided on a series of diplomatic measures, recognizing the indepence of the Republique de la Suisse Romande (RSR) and the Free City of Basel, and declaring an economic boycott against Eastern Switzerland (the remaining parts).
